Clem Buckley lets rip with the Bleedin' BluesThe Bleedin’ Blues make a return to gigging form on the 23rd of December in Muddy Maher’s. They’ve been on a break since the 8th of September. Clem Buckley — lead guitar — has been undergoing Physiotherapy treatment on his left arm for a repetitive strain injury he’s been dealing with for years.

“It’s been really tough for me the last few months but I’m back playing Guitar again, I’m booked in for surgery in February but the Physio is going well so hopefully won’t need it. Looking forward to the few gig I’ve over Christmas, We’ve been working on a few new Songs and might have a special guest or two for our gigs” “Also I’d like to thank Mairead Harte from Carrigaline Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic for all her great treatment”

The lads our biting at the bit to get going again so this promises to be a great night. They are also playing in Swell on the 30th. Clem and Mike (Bass) also have a acoustic gig with another local favourite David Hope in Swell on the 27th December .

Great Jazz In Muddy’s

Poles ApartWhat a great surprise we encountered Sunday evening at Muddy Maher’s. Finally a real Jazz band playing in Kinsale. The Polish ensemble “Poles Apart” rocked the town. Rocked is probably not the proper term “Jazzed” the town is more appropriate. Kinsale is well known for it’s Fringe Jazz Festival however, the bands are mostly blues oriented. These guys played proper Jazz and didn’t scare the crowd away.
Most people shy away from any music deemed Jazz, but this band had the pub won over with their accessible stylings. If you see the name “Poles Apart” in the future make sure to put them on your list of must-do things in Kinsale…

Ian BriggsBriggs and his band rocked Muddy Maher’s last night with a great performance. As Kinsale Fringe Jazz festival fans will all know, Briggs always brings class and brilliant musicianship with him and this time is no different. From straight blues to beautiful jazz the boys are in great form. If you missed the show last night he will be playing again this Sunday night 29 January. If you’ve never had the chance to see Ian Briggs do yourself a favour and go. You will not regret it…
